May 2013, Steve & Mark
Forty years in the making – as who and what I am today could not of been visioned 40 years ago.
With the support of their wives, brother-in-laws, Mark and Steve, take a trip across Route 66 in a 1963 Corvair vintage car to raise awareness and support through realistic hope for the many brain injury survivors, families, and caregivers on May 13, 2013.
Steve is a retired banker from Flint, Michigan, who is currently a vintage car collector. Mark is a retired businessman from Santa Barbara, California and founder of Realistic Hope. It is Mark’s hope and desire to help other Traumatic Brain Injury survivors and their families to develop more realistic dreams based on acceptance of what is, and the realization that tomorrow can be better.
Route 66 is often referred to as the “Road to Hope.” A road offering hope of a better life, and a chance to realize their dreams one mile at a time, which inspired Mark and Steve to raise money for BIAA. Their goal is to help others find a similar path to hope that enabled Mark to live a fulfilling life after a traumatic brain injury, 50 years ago.
We would like to invite you to follow us on our trip by checking our daily progress, in our blog, as we travel across the country. More importantly, we will like to ask for your support to help BIAA help create realistic hope for the millions of brain injury survivors, families, and caregivers in our country.
A special thank you to Hemming’s Motor News and Hagerty Insurance for their wonderful support and for sharing our trip with their community and all those individuals who continue to support us along the way. All donations go directly to the BIAA. If you have items that you would like to donate for auction, you can do that here.
