“Fighter”

Summary – the cause – the injury – today’s quality of
life?

My husband was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in ARS along with
moderate closed head TBI. He has cortical shearing, subdural hematomas,
arachnoid bleeds, and multiple other issues due to trauma. He is back at work
but is impulsive, has violent mood swings, short term memory loss, moodiness
and poor balance from his injuries.

“Patience is a Virtue”

Summary – the cause – the injury – today’s quality of
life?

Caused by train colliding with boss’s car. Boss was driving, he wanted to
stay in the city instead of family farm or put in a home. I told family I’ll
look after him as my family home has been here since 1819.It’s a real struggle
some days but mostly okay.

“Caregiving Can Be Exhausting”

Summary – the cause – the injury – today’s quality of
life?

My husband tripped and fell in our home. He sustained a 13cm laceration on
his forehead/scalp and a concussion. We later learned the injury damaged the
frontal lobe of his brain.

“Not My Girl”

Summary – the cause – the injury – today’s quality of
life?

February 2009, my 16 year old daughter was in a car accident. The car was
t-boned and she was at the point of impact. She sustained many injuries
including collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver along with other internal
bleeding, multiple fractures, and a severe enclosed brain injury.
